Music Theatre of Connecticut is a 501(c)3 non-profit arts organization and is governed by a volunteer board of directors and, in addition, relies on a strong group of community volunteers who serve on a variety of production and fundraising committees. We receive annual funding and support from local individuals, businesses, corporations, and private foundations to help us execute and develop our professional and educational programming at the level of quality for which we have become known.

Tax laws regarding charitable donations are changing in 2026!

Important Information on Tax Deductions

When you make a charitable donation to Music Theatre of CT before December 31st, you may be eligible for valuable tax deductions:

  • You can combine several years' worth of contributions into 2025 and itemize if the total is greater than the standard deduction.

  • Donor Advised Fund donations can be made without needing to itemize.

  • Appreciated stock and non-cash assets can be donated directly to Music Theatre of CT - and you can deduct the market value and avoid capital gains tax.

  • If you are 70.5 and older, you and/or your spouse can donate directly from your IRA. These gifts are excluded from your taxable income and can help satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD).
